Well I just can't contain myself any longer! If you follow me on facebook then you've probably picked up on some of the hints ive been tossing out there but I haven't officially announced my EXCITING NEWS , until today!

I am one of the fortunate vendors that get to be a part of the new and Fabulous

DEEP CREEK VINTAGE

multi vendor antique shop located in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

A beautiful Plantation House that dates back to the 1800's. Being restored by Cheryl Roy and her lovely family. She has litterly saved this beauty ~ couldn't believe it when I heard that it was on the verge of being destroyed. Oh and a Beauty it is! My pictures do this grand home no justice you'll just have to come and check it out for yourself. And if your not local well don't worry I plan on always bringing my camera with me everytime im there. ( although I really need to get a wide lense...hint hint, firefighter are you reading this?)

Yesterday I began moving some furniture in ~ so exciting I absolutely love my room! Yep that's right a room! a whole room which includes a drop dead gorgeous fireplace! Original hardcarved corbels, intricate chunky moldings.  ahhhhh :) can't ya tell how excited I am?!

 

I hate to spoil, I really wanted to wait until my room was decorated but I just couldn't put off any longer on sharing Tattered Elegance's new home with y'all!

 

Do you remember that shelf in the corner from my previous post? I used Bordello paint color from American Paint Company. Deep Creek Vintage is a retailer of this amazing chalk/clay/mineral based paint. You'll be able to buy yourself some paint and create your own masterpiece. And if you would like some guidance DCV will also provide workshops to teach you all the tricks.

 

 

Two incredible windows ~ as of right now im baffled on how to dress them.

And that mantel I've dreamed of what to display on it and honestly ive hit a wall with that right now too I kinda feel like it needs to stand alone and shine in all its glory ~ at least for now :)

 

 

Opps I forgot to bring a few of the light bulbs for the chandelier.

Be sure to check back later this week for more details on that Settee it was the first time I painted upholstery so im going to share a mini tutorial.

The grand opening is tentatively scheduled for June 22 ish.

Until then I am still selling at A Unique House Antique Mall booth #33 and I will also be participating in a Show in Richmond NEXT WEEKEND!

Va Va Voom Bordello

Hello there Friends!

 

So on Monday I met with Cheryl she is the proprietor of Deep Creek Vintage. Cheryl is opening a new super fabulous shop in Spotsylvania, VA. I mean this place is to die for ~ pure beauty. It is circa 1850 a plantation house complete with drop dead gorgeous fireplaces in practically every room, glorious worn wood floors, super high ceilings that just scream GRAND, windows, details and moldings that will make your jaw drop. It was truly stunning. While I was visiting my mind was just a spinning seriously I was wondering after I left if I was even speaking in complete sentences. To come across a place like this for an antique shop is really just a dream. You'll probably have to hear me yap about Deep Creek Vintage a lot because I wish  Cheryl and her new adventure the best of luck and plenty of success! 

 

 

Deep Creek Vintage is also a retailer of American Paint Company. They produce a clay/mineral/chalk based paint. You can check out their Facebook page here to learn more.  Cheryl graciously gave me some to try, so you better believe as soon as I got home I was a dippen my brush In the paint can. So without any further ado let me show you what I created...

 

 Let me present to you Bordello  ~

 

 

 A deep vibrant rich hue ~ scrumptious isn't is?

 

 

 

 A beautiful secretary/desk/ what not shelf dated back to 1905? at least that is what is marked on the back of the mirror. To me, it was just a really cool piece of furniture that needed a lot of love and that I knew once I got a hold of it , it would be a showstopper! 

 

 

 

I highlighted some of the details with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. And the inside cubby area is painted in a custom mix of a Frenchy Grey.

 

 

 

 After 2 coats of American Paint Company Paint in Bordello and the highlights in ASCP Old white I sealed it with a bit of clear wax and then went over in certain spots with the dark wax to add drama and to age it a bit. And then later buffed and buffed some more to give it that shine. 

 

 

 

 

Yes my knew favorite thing to do is to add a bit of crackle!

 

 

 

Wow the more I look at these pictures the more I love this Little Victorian Beauty. But unfortunately as you probably know by now I'm moving and I just can't keep hording all my stuff! However I think I will get to enjoy this piece for another month. Before it makes its fabulous Debut at

The Vintage Home Market.

 

 

 

And just so you know im also working on a settee that goes swimmingly with this secretary.

I'm sure I'll be writing up a post about that later because it will be the first piece of furniture that I've painted the upholstery.

And a beautiful day it is! A big huge thank you to my wonderful mother for being such an inspiration to me. You are a beautiful person inside and out and I love you with all my heart!

So Ive been crazy busy lately there is so much going on right now in my neck of the woods ~ and I wish it was all happy fun stuff but its not... Ive been horrible with my blog posts lately, but if you do follow my blog then ya know that my house is on the market, which is completely draining and a very exhausting process and not to mention probably the most stressful event I've gone through in my life.  So many of you have express your thoughts and have sent me such sweet e-mails and I just want to say thank you. Soon this chapter in my life will end and a new brighter one will begin. I'm excited to see what the future holds for me and my family.  On that note I do have some fantastic news but I'm gonna have to leave you hanging for a while ...but stay tuned cause your gonna love it!

Habersham Mirror
 



Can a girl ever have to many mirrors!!?? I think not.  I absolutely adore vintage mirrors especially the really ornate carved Victorian ones. And apparently you love them too they are one of my biggest sellers and it makes sense ... a mirror adds so much drama to a room it can be a statement piece a real eye catcher.  I have in fact decorated a whole room solely around a mirror.

You simply must hop on over to my Pinterest board, Mirror Mirror on the Wall ~ you will be in awe and you'll completely understand what I'm talking about.

I have over 15 mirrors in my home and I love each and every one of them.

I thought I would share a before and after of one of my favorites.

 

BEFORE

 

It was love at first sight ~ I wasn't really to concerned how high it was going to go at auction because I knew it was coming home with me. Luckily I did get a good price on it. I could already envision just how lovely those roses would be after I saturated them with some chalk paint.

 

 

 

AFTER

 

 

 I used Annie Sloan Decorative Chalk Paint ( of coarse). I chose French Linen, which has become a staple in my home, for the base of the mirror and Old White for all the raised moldings. It was distressed and got some dark wax applied to age it a bit. Hard to tell from these pictures but that gold gilding peeks through where I distressed and looks really stunning in person. For now its finished and hanging in my Foyer so its one of the first things you see when you walk into my home.

I may eventually add a touch of gilding wax ~ we'll see.

 

 

 

what a transformation Huh?

 

Here is just a peek at another mirror I recently painted. Anytime I find these extra tall super detailed framed mirrors I snatch them up ~ they are so versatile ~ you might not think so because they are so big but really they look incredible on the floor propped against the wall behind a petite side chair.

As you might notice I also just recently painted the Victorian Server ~ it was painted w/ ASCP Florence and then Pure White over top ~ its been waxed but I still have to distress so the Florence will shine through and I also need to add the handles. It funny how projects for my home always get the back seat to projects for clients or for the shop.

 

 

 

 

 I just had to share this gorgeous hand painted Iris Vase ~ it was a Yard Sale Find! Score!! Love it and I love Iris' <3

A Glimps into my Booth

Hello Friends!

 

I realize its been awhile since I've shared pictures of my booth. I dropped off a couple of "new" things yesterday so I snapped a few photos. A lot of people have been asking for vintage decorative items to use to display on their porches / gardens so I've been working on some pretty cool stuff this week for outdoor decorating. Nothing is quite picture ready yet so make sure your checking my Facebook page for updates.

Bright white vintage wooden ladder ~ I love decorating with these perfect for displaying potted plants and adding height to your porch vignettes

Perfect little 3 drawers chest painted also a bright white with a springy green cross added to the drawer fronts.

 

Do ya'll add mirrors to your porches? I do! A girl can never have to many mirrors. :) And what a wonderful way to reflect the sunlight. A covered porch may not be considered square footage in your home but for me it is a room that is used just as often as the living room. And that's how I decorate it, comfy and cozy and with plenty of architectural and decorative elements.

 

 

 
 

 

 That vibrant blue side table is only $45 and the Fantastic Farm Table is $550. This Farm Table is 6' long x 4' wide with 2 deep drawers and it is so versatile. I could see it being used as a large substantial desk or it would make a great craft table. For me, I used it as my dining table, for 10 years. I will be a little sad to see it go. I usually flip my pieces at home pretty often but this farm table has really stuck around for a long time.

 

 

 

 

Finally I came up with someway to display my lampshades. I LOVE recovering lampshades but they were always such a pain when it came to booth display. Now even though they're difficult to get to ( you'll have to ask for help from the mall staff) at least you can see all of them and the best part is now I have so much more room for more lampshades! so expect to see some fresh designs... very soon! Most of the shades are only $45 smaller ones usually around $25

 

 

This is the last Frenchy painted grainsack chair left only $95 goes swimmingly beside the 2 tiered French Graphic Antique Table.

My before Bedroom

Hello Friends

and Happy Friday!

 

I've been in the decluttering mode and cleaning mode lately ~ due to my house being for sale.  Not so much for the potential buyers that are pass through my home but for the sheer fact that my house is full of junk my cherished belongings, and if I don't get rid of it now im going to have a whole lot of work to do when it does come time to pack up and move.

My bedroom has always been a work in progress ~ its just never been quite right.  I once heard Christopher Lowell (remember him) say something along the lines of ~ your bedroom should a place you love because its the first and last room you see everyday. Makes sense huh? Im making a vow right now that when I move my bedroom will be the first room I decorate and I want it dreamy and romantic with big fluffy pillows, sparkly chandeliers, ruffles, French furniture... ahhh its fun to dream but who am I kidding! I live with a fireman who would only complain a little on how I choose to decorate but he would totally ruin the vibe. I can see it now stinky man work boots atop my fluffy pillows that hes thrown on the floor! ok anyway ( I got a little off track)

 

 

 

What I really wanted to talk about today were the nightstands and the wall art I created ~ in my bedroom. we can call this post my before bedroom pics. When I move I have something totally different in mind.

 

 

 

 

You'll never guess what these ( there is a pair ) were before I revamped them... part of a garage door. I bought 3 LONG garage door panels at an estate sale not knowing what I was going to do with them. I love that look with the shutters on both sides of the bed so I tried to mimic it using the garage panels.

I cut them in half, painted the trim with Annie Sloans French Linen, then decoupage them using an old hymn book. Then not satisfied with just the book pages I continued to decoupage bits of this awesome silver mirrored roses scrapbook paper after that I added just a bit of tea stain just to kinda make it look a little bit more aged.

The Antique Sconces were given a fresh coat of Old White paint and i bought some really cool light bulbs to go with them ~ they flicker like candles.

I found the his and her crowns at Kirklands ~ <3

I still need something to go on the bottom half ~ any suggestions? I thought maybe a small decorative mirror, a photo, or a small chalkboard with a romantic quote hmmm???

 

 

Do you all put broaches on your pillows too? You wanna know where else you can stick a vintage pin... on a pillar candle , its a perfect way to display your treasures and to add a little bling.

 

and here is my sheet music angle wings.  You might recognize these from the Laplata Antique Show that I participated in ~ you can read about that here.
 Aren't these the most perfect thing to hang over a bed? It is a reminder that an angle is watching over me always.

So here is the before of the boring pair of thrift store nightstands. They are not antiques and I've seen them a million times before but I wanted a matching set of nightstands and at $20 for the pair I couldn't pass that up.

 I used Annie Sloan Decorative Chalk Paint Pure White for the base and top and then French Linen for the drawers and trim and also a little Palnoma here and there. Just clear wax on these nightstands.

 

 

 

 A hand painted design on the top  in French Linen to add some pizazz.

 

 

And here is my headboard also a thrift store find. Painted in the same colors as the nightstand.  Even though the style of the furniture is different, the fact that they are painted the same makes them blend together ~ I don't know it just works for me.

 

 

 

 

 

Ok im off to go declutter another room ~ maybe my craft room ha! that was funny that room is a disaster I'd rather go paint something!
