You may have already scene these if you follow me on Facebook , but I wanted to share some more detailed pictures ,especially if your not local and can't make it to Deep Creek Vintage to see them in person.

 

French Provincial Dining Chairs

 

 

 

Painted in American Paint Company's Home Plate, slightly distressed and clear waxed to a gorgeous shine.

 

 

 

I used a trio of  coordinating fabrics and embellished with plenty of rich elegant trim.

 

 

 

A coral color Burlap, a multi colored strip consisting of soft greens, yellow, pinks, and a luscious cabbage Roses mixed with other florals in a Waverly Fabric, complete this pair of French Arm Chairs.

 

 

 

Even though there are 2 different sets of arm chairs they work well together. They are both French Provincial style with canning and I painted them all in the same color and upholstered them in all the same coordinating fabrics.

Faux Sunflowers and Autumn Mantel Decor

The coffee is especially yummy this morning! Maybe its because of the cool crisp breeze flowing through the windows. Oh how I do love the change of seasons. So I thought it only appriopiate that I would share with you today a Fall Project.

Faux Sunflowers on a Spring

I can not claim this awesome idea as my own, It was something I just happen to skim across on Pinterest. Not sure if I was searching for Autumn Inspired crafts or Faux Flowers (which I love!) but anyway I was lucky to have found these Super Pretty Grungy Sunflowers from Libbie's Home blog. You can look at Libbie's Home page HERE she also gives a great tutorial on how to create your own. I ran with her wonderful creation and kinda tweaked it to my own style and this is what I came up with.

 

 

It was really easy, but ya know like with most crafts very time consuming.

The springs came from an antique parlor sofa that im in the process of recovering ~ not a fun job I might add.

**  I made myself a sunflower petal template and proceeded to cut out different sized petals in various fabrics and layered them atop each other  with a dab of hot glue in between each layer , until I achieved the fullness I was looking for.

 **  I took a shortcut for the middle seed pod of my Sunflower ~ instead of trying to create a center for my flowers I repurposed the center from some cheesy artificial sunflowers purchased at the Dollar Store. I even reused a few of the leaves.

 

Cute huh? I really love to use burlap Fabric especially in my Fall Décor. And just to add my own touch instead of the Sunflowers only consisting of Burlap I used an Orange Velvet type of material, a yellow Toile, A staple in my home- Dropcloth, a golden floral pattern fabric, and on the white sunflowers I even added a lace doily.

Another crafty project I did while I was working on the Sunflowers. 

Moss, book pages, glittered mini pinecones, butterflies and acorns, embellished on a Gold Vintage Picture Frame. And ohhhh that ribbon!(purchased at Hobby Lobby)

Painting Upholstery ~ My Victorian Settee

Have you heard of Painting Fabric?

I'm sure you have its all over the web and it seems to be gaining popularity. So of coarse I had to try it.

I was curious to know how it felt and how involved the paint application would be.

I'm not going to give any kind of tutorials (there is already a million out there) However I will share with you my step by step pictures on my

 Lovely Settee with Painted Upholstery.

Lets start with the after picture, Isn't she pretty? I painted the back tufting a beautiful Olive color and recovered the seat in a coordinating floral upholstery weight fabric.

 

 

This Victorian Era Settee was one of the first pieces of furniture that I moved into Deep Creek Vintage. I was very pleased with the way it turned out. I'm not so sure I would paint an upholstered piece that would house your bum daily, but for a tufted back of a chair or sofa I think its perfect.

 

The Before

 

 

Here is really all you need to paint Fabric ~

I used Annie Sloan's decorative Chalk Paint in Olive

a bottle of water ( every blog I read said to wet the fabric )

a brush ( I uses a cheapy one so I could really jam the paint into the tuffs)

and a rag for any drips

 

 

 

It took about 3 coats of paint until I was satisfied with the results. One thing to keep in mind when your painting fabric IT TAKES FOREVER TO DRY so if your impatient like me or trying to finish a project quickly, this is just to give you a heads up it took my fabric overnight in between each coat to dry!

 Finish coat of Paint with 2 layers of a clear wax also applied

 

also just a side note I did lightly sand before adding the wax.

 

 

 

As you can tell you can still see the pattern of the fabric, which is also something to keep in mind when deciding weather to paint your fabric or not.

 

I would absolutely recommend WAX! I usually wax everything however when waxing your upholstery it is a must. The fabric does not feel as smooth and as soft without the wax, and it gives it that nice sheen that you can see from the picture, plus it will protect your paint job that you've worked so hard to achieve.

 

Victorian Settee is still available in my room at Deep Creek Vintage, it is currently on sale so probably won't last long!
 

 

 

So would I do it again? ABSOLULTY!  I think it a great way to give a shabby piece and new life and much more inexpensive than having new fabric put on  (especially with all those tuffs)

June 2013 ~ The Vintage Home Market In Richmond, Va ~ better late then never!

Hello Friends!

 

My world has been turned upside down this summer ~ due to my home selling and then my move to Virginia and also a new and very exciting shop opening. And in the midst of all that going on I also decided to participate in The Vintage Home Market Show in Richmond. It was their first ever show and I was lucky to be a part of it! I know it was about 2 months ago but I would love to share with you all my space <3 and some of the other cool vendors that were there. So be prepared lots of pictures! ENJOY

 
 

My First sale ~  Custom made suitcase table. It actually sold on Friday which was set up day. Another vendor , Crimson Clover purchased it to display her uber chic jewelry.

 That little washstand was the first piece of furniture that was sold on Saturday.  I sure wish I had taken some before pictures of that washstand because it was in rough shape to say the least. I ended up removing the doors on the bottom all together they were just not repairable. The basket that was added really made it functional again for hiding all your goodies. And do you see that backsplash ? My firefighter custom cut that and added the antique appliques, turned out really cute!

 

The rustic chic farm table cut down to coffee table size is still available at Deep Creek Vintage. However just about everything else in the photo has been sold.

 

This was a big hit at the show, Antique light fixture turned into a birdfeeder on a rusty iron lamp base. I only wish I would have concocted up a bunch of these!

 

And ahhhh the lighting....

Lincoln's Hat China Cabinet

Hello Friends!

It's a beautiful rainy Sunday morning here in Virginia.  6 weeks  I would've said Southern Maryland instead of Virginia. Very happy to state that now I am a Virginian. Virginia is for lovers and I am in love with my new career venture at Deep Creek Vintage and I am in love with a fresh new start. I truly believe everything I falling into place exactly the way it should be. The only gripe I have is this tiny house were in, although I shouldn't complain there are good and bad things with everything. We are currently renting until we decide on a definite location and plus the whole "move" happened so fast we really didn't have time to find a permanent home.  As far as renting it was really slim Pickens. the majority of rental homes are just plain nasty I mean filthy, or the location was horrible, a couple we looked at were ok but didn't have a work space for me. The home were in now is in a decent neighborhood, it was very clean, and does have a nice size garage, guess I shouldn't complain but it is very small ~ my dining room table doesn't even fit! It reminds me of the townhouse I lived in when I first moved out at 20 yr old :) but like I said its only a rental and i'll be in my dream home soon enough!
Well enough of the personal mumbo jumbo now lets get on to some furniture...

This week one of the projects I completed is this super cute Vintage China Cabinet.
I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

 I used American Paint Company's Lincoln's Hat and Home Plate for the shelves. If you haven't had the opportunity to work with APC and would like to try this amazing Chalk/Clay/ Mineral based paint you can purchase it at Deep Creek Vintage or we also offer classes so you can get some one on one tips. you can get more info on the classes and paint ~ here.

 

A close up of the silver details. I love the way this turned out usually I highlight the details in white but the silver is a nice change.

2013 PANTONE® Color Of The Year - Emerald

 

The chicken wire doors weren't planned. Originally this china cabinet had glass ... during our move one of the glass pieces broke. replacing the glass would have been an inexpensive fix but I was anxious to get it in the shop and honestly I love the chicken wire.

 talk about juxtaposing, the rustic chicken wire, the chic richness of the black, the modern graphic print, and the elegance of the silver trim, and the fun pop of color hidden in the drawers.... its the perfect mix.

 

 

 

And here it is already moved into my booth at A Unique House Antique Mall. If your local then you simply must come check it out in person!

**Rushmore ** Vanity & Upholstered French Bed

Hi Friends!

Shame on me for keeping ya'll in the dark for over a month!

So so many exciting things have happened, and ive been sooo busy, blogging has been on the back burner.  I have many cool things to share with you but today im going to make this short and sweet and fast forward a bit to the present time :) and share a gorgeous piece of furniture.

 

 

 

 

If you follow me on Facebook then you already know that I have moved into (and we are now open ) to Deep Creek Vintage. I have tons to fill you in on about that but it'll have to be later ~ just short and sweet today ( in the meantime, definitely  go check out their site ~ here)! Earlier this week I delivered a Beautiful Vintage Vanity and a coordinating French Upholstered Bed. And im just so anxious to share with you some pictures , but trust me when I say these picture just don't do these pieces justice! If your local to Virginia then you simply must stop be Deep Creek Vintage, for a visit to see not only this Vanity but all of the other glorious furniture, vintage finds, reloved treasures, and handcrafted uniques we have!

I used American Paint Company's fabulous Chalk/Mineral/Clay Based Paint ( which is sold at Deep Creek Vintage) to complete the vanity and Bed.

I love when I have the time to add a little hidden surprise in the drawers! In this case I painted the inside of the drawers with American Paint Company's Bordello.

 

 

I really lucked out when I found this  Ralph Lauren fabric on the remant table and Hancock fabrics! Talk about being at the right place at the right time! I only wish they had more.

 

 

 

Clear and Dark wax was applied and then buffed to a glossy shine.

 

 

 

I refinished the tops in a dark stain and sealed with a couple coats of poly. I had bought new hardware at Hobby Lobby but in the end decided to keep the original pulls. I do love antique hardware.
